A contemporary retreat in Champagne's rolling hills
VERIFIED LUXURY
We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience goes beyond how your surroundings look — how your visit makes you feel is what you will remember most.
We started in 1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.

Throughout France, nearly every wine region boasts a destination spa hotel, but Champagne — the place where kings came to get coronated for nearly 1,000 years — only just received its first with the addition of Royal Champagne Hotel & Spa, located on the edge of Épernay. Architect Giovanni Pace (known for his work with Moët & Chandon) transformed the 19th-century post-trading station were kings and Napoleon once stopped into Champagne’s most talked-about wine country retreat.
Designed to place the Marne Valley and its rolling vines on prime display, the hotel features a combination of local quartz stone and glass for a look that’s modern — yet not imposing — and guarantees all 47 rooms open up to vineyard views. Perched on a hill, the four-level property — held up by 300 concrete pillars — took nearly four years to renovate before opening its doors in 2018. Located 30 minutes by train from Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport, this welcome new addition to the traditionally classic Champagne region feels removed enough from the main cities, yet is just a quick drive to the capital, Épernay, and landmark limestone Gothic cathedral in Reims.
