Located on one of Barcelona’s most desirable avenues, Passeig de Gràcia, the luxurious Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is steps from Casa Batlló, one of architect Antoni Gaudí’s most famous buildings, as well as the upscale shops lining the street. You can also easily walk to both Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter, so getting to some of the Catalan capital’s most popular sites is a breeze.

The hotel offers a serene oasis when you are ready to step away from the bustle of the city, with a world-class restaurant, a rooftop dipping pool, an amazing spa and even a garden where you can wind down. It’s fun to see signs of the building’s former history as a bank, such as the old safes found in the aptly named Banker’s Bar.

The décor throughout doesn’t resemble a hotel so much as an upscale stylish apartment thanks to award-winning Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, who made the spaces feel both sophisticated and comfortable.
Drinks at the Banker’s Bar are also a must, where you can sip specialty cocktails under a ceiling crafted from original security boxes from the former bank.
Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona is a foodie destination boasting restaurants from acclaimed chefs like Carme Ruscalleda and her son Raül Balam, as well as Gastón Acurio.
A destination in its own right, the spa features holistic-minded therapies, including massages, wraps, facials and Orient-themed treatments as well as a lap pool and a hammam.
The two-bedroom Penthouse is as good as it gets anywhere in the city — it occupies the entire eighth floor and has two enormous terraces with stunning views of the city, as well as its own kitchen and massive master suite.

The Rooms

All accommodations either have views of bustling Passeig de Gràcia or the hotel’s Mimosa Garden, and many have balconies or patios.
Wood floors, wall screens and wardrobes, rather than closets, are among the luxe touches.

The Restaurants

The esteemed Moments, helmed by Carme Ruscalleda (the most lauded female chef in the world), and her son, Raül Balam, serves a changing lineup of modern Catalan cuisine.
Blanc is the light and airy all-day dining venue offering a lavish buffet breakfast complete with live action stations.
There are also two alfresco options. Terrat (open from spring through early fall) serves chef Gastón Acurio's famous Peruvian menu, while the more casual Mimosa Garden is the perfect place to unwind.
Go to Banker’s Bar, a former bank vault, for craft cocktails like Las Rosas de Ushi made with Tanqueray 10, sake, Choya, raspberry, lychee, hibiscus and yuzu.
