JW Marriott Parq Vancouver
Opened in September 2017, JW Marriott Parq Vancouver anchors the city’s newest entertainment destination, Parq Vancouver. A stay at this brand-new property offers you unlimited access to the urban resort’s casino, spa and eight fabulous food and drink outlets.
The development’s copper-toned glass towers, two of which house the chic hotel, stand out amid the city’s predominantly steel-gray skyscrapers.
But it’s not just its unique exterior that makes this deluxe hotel distinctive. The 329-room JW Marriott Parq Vancouver is the luxury brand’s second entry in Canada and incorporates the country’s first Spa by JW.
The lodging is ideal for corporate travelers with spacious work desks, an executive lounge and more than 60,000 square feet of meeting space (including Vancouver’s largest hotel ballroom), but it also woos holiday-makers with its proximity to the BC Place sports and concert arena and Yaletown’s waterfront, as well as its endless on-property entertainment.
- A 30,000-square-foot park,
secluded from the street on the building’s sixth floor, connects the JW
Marriott to The Douglas, Autograph Collection hotel and gives the Parq
Vancouver complex its name.
- The Spa by JW, on the hotel’s 17th
floor, includes a relaxation area with individual pod-like lounge chairs, perfect
for taking in the city views in comfort. Treatments incorporate natural
products from Aromatherapy Associates.
- The 4,240-square-foot fitness
center, with windows on three sides, is open 24/7. On the adjacent roof
terrace, an outdoor yoga pavilion and a whirlpool tub overlook False Creek.
- You won't have to venture far to
find a stellar bite. Well-known Vegas restaurateur Elizabeth Blau and her chef
husband Kim Canteenwalla designed all eight food and drink outlets in the Parq
Vancouver complex.
- Ask for an “-01”suite on the 20th
floor or above. Located in a wedge-shaped tower, these units have 270-degree
views of downtown, the mountains, False Creek and the pillowy roof of the BC
Place arena next door.
- BC Place hosts major concerts, so
in rooms facing the arena, you may hear the music — a pro or con, depending on
your feelings for U2, Metallica or whatever group takes the stage.
- The 72,000-square-foot casino
dominates Parq Vancouver’s second and third floors, although it’s secluded
enough from the rest of the property that if you prefer to avoid the gaming
areas, you can do so easily.
- Designed by Toronto-based Studio
Munge, the 281 guest rooms and 48 suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows, are
decorated in a light, airy cream and white palette with blond wood furniture.
- The closets are finished in taupe
lacquer and contemporary artworks add splashes of color.
- Sliding frosted-glass doors provide
privacy for the showers and tubs, which are stocked with large, eco-friendly
containers of Molton Brown bath products.
- Other in-room amenities include Illy
espresso makers, safes, 55-inch LCD TVs with Netflix and plush robes.
- Located on the lobby level of the Vancouver
hotel, Honey Salt is the local outpost of Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla’s
Las Vegas restaurant of the same name. Pull up a chair at the communal tables, the
long bar or in the living-room-style lounge, or opt for a seat in the spacious
dining room or the adjacent a sidewalk patio.
- Diners must be at least 19 years
old to visit the Parq Vancouver restaurants on the gaming floors, including
1886, a high-end Chinese restaurant serving dim sum, fresh seafood and dishes
from across China; BC Kitchen, the sports bar and comfort-food destination; and
Mrkt East, a casual pan-Asian eatery.
- Victor, a steak and seafood spot,
is slated to open in late 2017 on the sixth floor “Parq” level.
