Altira Spa
Macau's multi-sensory spa experience
VERIFIED LUXURY
We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience goes beyond how your surroundings look — how your visit makes you feel is what you will remember most.
We started in 1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.
Soon To Be Rated
As our highly trained, incognito inspectors work to assess properties, our editors check them out ahead of time and provide a sneak preview of what to expect.
The Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Altira Spa occupies 6,000 square feet over two stories of the skyscraper hotel and boasts a contemporary, sleek design with warm, neutral tones and light hardwood throughout. Shimmering gold accents dot the public spaces, a reminder that you're in a place of luxury. The air is infused with light scents of lime, gardenia, lemongrass and bergamot — making any treatment at Altira Spa a complete sensory experience.
The luxe spa has an abundance of water features, from vitality pools to ice fountains and Vichy showers, so chances are you're going to get wet, and enjoy every minute of it. Facials, collagen therapy, massages and salon treatments round out the list of offerings.

Our Inspector's Highlights
- Altira Spa’s will take your (stressful) breath away; the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star spa’s philosophy is to invigorate and replenish you with personalized, soothing services.
- We found the replenishing Intuitive Massage to be the perfect example of the spa’s philosophy in practice. We loved that Altira Spa custom-designed the massage to our inspector, rather than just going through the motions of a typical massage; and when you visit the Five-Star spa, you’ll get to enjoy the same.
- The robes at Altira Spa are lightweight, kimono-style nylon, and the plush slippers feel comfortable and soft. The combination works well in getting you to-and-from your appointment as relaxed (and ready for healing) as possible.
- Our favorite relaxation areas are the treatment rooms: private spaces perfect for post-treatment tea and snacks. We loved that we were welcome to relax in the room for as long as we’d like.
- Each window in the salon and spa looks out across the Macau peninsula and South China Sea, creating an unimaginable view while you’re getting pampered.
Things to Know
- Pre-treatment, you’ll be asked to fill out a treatment preference form; take this seriously, as the therapist uses your feedback to create a treatment tailored precisely to your body’s needs.
- Treatment rooms at Altira Spa have their own private changing areas and lockers. If you’re interested in using the gym, pool, sauna or vitality pool, however, you’ll find that while those public locker rooms are spacious and well-kept, they don’t afford as much privacy as the treatment rooms.
- Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit if you plan to use the pool and sauna — and we recommend that you do considering this Five-Star spa’s indoor infinity pool is one of the world’s best.
- The best way to book an appointment is to call the spa directly or email the spa concierge. If you’re staying at the Altira Macau hotel, another easy option is to simply walk to the spa and make an appointment on the spot.
- For an even more private, soothing experience, book the Altira Spa retreat center with private treatment rooms (which spans over 3,000 square feet), a vitality pool, heated stone chairs, sauna, steam and rasul rooms. Hands down, this would be an amazing, healing place to book a party.
The Facilities
- After a soothing massage, there’s nothing more relaxing then stepping into one of the crystal steam showers or experience showers found in the treatment rooms.
- Rooms have fantastic views of Macau Peninsula, a short distance across the South China Sea from Altira.
- As a guest of the Five-Star spa, you’ll have access to an indoor infinity-edge swimming pool, which has been named one of the best pools in the world. With floor-to-ceiling windows, an outdoor terrace and underwater music, the pool won’t disappoint you.
- The couple’s rooms are a private oasis for you and your mate. They’re large in size and amenities, which include a whirlpool with light therapy, priceless views overlooking Macau Peninsula, an experience shower, relaxation area and changing room.
- The hair and beauty salon connected to Altira Spa can do anything from a touch-up to a complete coloring and cut. We like that the salon has private rooms designated for pedicures (with TVs) and for waxing, and the salon’s impeccable views add to the ambiance.
